Dr. Steiger graduated from Leeds Medical School, United Kingdom in 1981. After completing 3 years of post-graduate training in England, Dr. Steiger was a resident and Chief Medical Resident at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City, which was followed by training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. During this time, Dr. Steiger participated in basic science research. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Steiger was the Director of the ICU at the Hospital for Joint Diseases and Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University. Dr. Steiger is the Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and Mount Sinai West, Associate Professor of Medicine Icahn School of Medicine, and Director of the Respiratory Institute at Mount Sinai Union Square.
